This is a mainshaft out of an '03 Dyna. First time I've seen this.

Another look

I've not seen this before on a late model. Anyone else?

I didn't realize someone else had logged on in the 5 minutes I was away from the 'puter. Tried to remove and repost under my sceen name and found out one's not allowed to remove their own posts  :wtf:

Sorry about that  :dgust:

How did it happen, what is the power.  My Brother broke a Revtech six speed, doing hard wheelies.  He was running a 130 plus hp 116", never heard of the HD trannies breaking.  But then we aren't drag racing either.
Drive fast, take chances

I've seen it happen but only on the drag strip.......... :potstir:

I have done this also, it now hangs on the wall of shame. :embarrassed:
Went with a baker od 6. builders kit.
I will have to try harder to break the new one.

Surprisingly enough, he wasn't at the track and he doesn't ride that hard at all. He rode it to work and when he went to start it, it turned over but didn't start. On the second attempt it just made a "ginding noise". He called me to come pick it up and I heard it over the phone and told him it wasn't the drive gear because you could hear it grinding against the starter ring gear. He tried to bump start it but when he tried to pop the clutch, he didn't have one :smileo: When The primary came off that's what was there.

Regarding the build, it's a good running 95" 10.5:1 with a set of TW8g's, '06 heads, Mik 42 and a SuperTrapp.

Not on the strip. Right. And he only rides it on Sunday to go to the local 7-11 and never exceeds 3,000 rpm. Right.  :hyst:

I snapped a mainshaft from way too many starter kickbacks. After replacing ring gears, starters, starter clutches, and finnaly a tranny main shaft I found out the cause was may original "A" style lifters bleeding down.
