Buddy brought me a carb off his 1992 Softail Heritage. (Stock CV Carb) and asks me to clean it all up, overhaul it, Whatever it Needs. Left him a Message, told him it was done, and come and get it. He gets back to me on Monday or Tuesday here, says, can You install the Carb and set it up. Yeah, if you want. So, he brings it by at about, I don't know, 6:30AM this morning, Unloads it they do, and they're gone Before 7! So, I install it, Lube his Cables, do All the Neglected stuff, go through the Box of Stuff he had sitting on the seat. Went to install his Stock A/F Housing, cleaned it all up too, but what I thought was odd, (and I don't do a Lot of EVO stuff) But the Air Box ALMOST Looks like it SHOULD have a couple of "O"-Rings on the Retaining Bolt Bushing(?), to the Head. (Look like the Later Breather Bolt area on the rear of the Housing) They Didn't want to Sit in the Holes right Flush, so, I Look around, I Have NO Parts book for this thing, Look up on Ronnie's Site, and although it does not Show any "O"-Rings on the Back of the Air Box, I'm Really not Sure if there's a Problem with the things (Can't get the correct word to come to mind right now... Bushing???) that stick out of the Air Box, as in MAYBE someone has Deformed them at some point, to where they DON'T sit inside the Head Hole now.
So, The Question is, does Anyone KNOW if there is, or is Not, Supposed to be "O"-Rings there, or IS the Housing Bushings Supposed to Slide right in to the Bolt Holes?
A Link to Ronnie's I Looked at, but Still Not 100% Sure. Just SEEMS like there SHOULD be "O"-Rings on the damn thing.

I Have No idea of whether or not this is allowed, but it is NOT my Intention to Piss any of the Mods off. If Not allowed, PLEASE, let me know and I will remove it, or if You Need to remove the Link, that's Fine.
Thanks in advance for ANY Knowledgeable answers.

Hogman; I just dug my stock 1992 airbox out of the attic and looked at it. It does not have orings on it. As I remember (it was a loong time ago) the small flange (?) slips into the heads. The 1/2" bolts are solid right? 1992 was the transition year between case and head breathers. My '92 has a June '92 build date, and is a case breather, but came with heads that were set up for the breathers.
I'm starting to believe my body is gonna outlast my mind.

Damn, if the "Flanges" Have to Slip in to the Head, I'm in trouble. I went and tried it again about a half hour ago, and those little buggers Just DON'T want to Slip in to the Head. I Should have some "O"-Rings around that would work for it, so Maybe I'll just Go with those...??
Oh, YES, the Bolts ARE solid. The Crappy thing about this is, My Son has a 92 (I Believe) Convertable, and a previous owner somewhere along the line decided to run it Without ANY kind of Filtration system, so I Couldn't even Look at That. We're waiting on a Swap meet in this area, as we've managed to pick up a piece here and a piece there, but Not Close to Everything Yet. (Mostly older S/E Stuff People no longer want......)
Thanks VERY Much for the Help and the Info on this Breeze, Truly MUCH Appreciated. (At least I Know I'm Not QUITE Cracking Up....YET! LOLOL)
Have a GREAT One Sir!

I dug my oem heads out of the attic and compared the a.c. housing to head holes, and you're right. No way the
"flange" slips inside. The "witness" marks around the holes exactly match the od of the ac flange.  When I put the new heads on, I put the oem heads in the styrofoam  boxes the new heads came in, and the ac got wrapped up in a towel and put in it's own box, so nothing has been touched in 19 years. My service manual does not show orings or anything else, so I guess the assy. is just sandwiched to the head.

Damn, now I got to add straighten up the attic to my list of stuff to ignore.
