2 hour ride in the rain on Sunday.  Between the visor on my helmet and the stock Ultra windshield I couldn't see "Potty mouth".  Riding by braille.  Got my order in today for a minus 3" Cee Bailey window.

First off you want to look over your windshield not through it.  A rule of thumb is to look over the windshield about 2 "s or have the top of the windshield line up with your chin with your seated in a normal position on the bike.  ( have a friend hold a yard stick on top of the windshield with you sitting on the bike and see what point the end of the yard stick touches on your face when it is level ). Also a full face helmet helps a lot in the rain.

And then of course you have to slow down a bit because no matter what your visibility is it isn't going to be as good no matter what you try.

I personally hate looking through a windshield on a bike, period. I have an 8" high on my ultra, factory is 12" I think. I'm just tall enough to see over the 12", but at some angles looking down to the road, have to look through it, and I can't stand that.

My Street Glide is just right, to low to see through it at all!  :teeth:

ended up trimming mine thanks to instructions off the site. Might be a project you can do with your spare.

It's pretty easy, cut slow so not to melt the plastic. Sand the edges smooth, then take a propane torch and just run it across the edges you sanded kinda quick to glaze them. It'll look like factory. Maybe practice on the part you cut away first.

On my previous bike (e-glide) I put on a 10" shield.  I could see right over it and it still protected me from the wind on the highway.  So, going down 2" to 3" is a good move, in my opinion, regardless of riding in the rain or dry.

I look over my windshield and a friend turned me on to using ski type goggles that are vented instead of sunglasses in the rain. I got some atv ones at Wal Mart that aren't as big as regular ski goggles and are black in color. They still look a little dorky but you can see and its even kinda fun to ride in the rain now that I can see.   :bike:

The instructions I got off site wiped methyl ketone to melt and clear cut edge, you can get it at home depot. I'll have to give the torch a try.
