might pick up a 79 XLCR  roller , no engine ,no title , just bill of sale, can you get a title in Michigan with just a 79 frame ? , also will a EVO sporty engine fit in it ? I see a street tracker coming

Title goes with the frame. You can get a builders title, but will need receipts and an inspection by the police. Secretary of State office's have the requirements.

I've heard the laws changed fairly recently here. Used to be, you could have the Sec. of State run the numbers for you, and as long as it came back "clear" they'd issue a title to you. I've done several.
I've been told now, that you have to have an existing title from the previous owner, to get a title.

Where is the frame from? At a certain age some states don't require a title or at least I heard that somewhere.

I'm from Michigan, a few years back I bought a 4 speed frame from a member here. He gave me a Bill of Sale and the Maine registration. I took those to the Michigan Sec of State office, laid them on the counter and said I need a title for this bike. They did a search and in about 10 days I had clear Michigan title for a 79 FLH. No biggie.
