Tunning a stock Softail Heritage.
All is bone stock except for cheap slip ons, brand name unknown. I had v-tunned using a screen so surrounding blocks are all filled in around comfort zone. Engine is smooth as silk and runs great. No popping from exhaust. HOWEVER when cruising and you go to give it heavy throttle to gain speed in same gear and then let off the exhaust blurps once or twice. This will happen everytime you do that. I now have the exhaust off and have new gaskets going on. I thought that maybe he had an exhaust leak. This exhaust uses 4 gaskets. So i took the exhaust pipe off and the crossover was loose around the gasket. So im replacing all the gaskets.
I have welded the crossover pipe closed as well making a cheap duel exhaust out of it.
Havent put it together yet but would like some input to what could cause this.
I know I may have to retune as well cause of the exhaust mod.

Likely how the decel fuel is set up in the cal. Disable to test it. Could be too much accel fuel also. This can be disabled for testing also. One or the udder is likely the cause.

Ill try that. Hopefully the weather will clear up. I had tried to take the enrichment decel away and it started to pop really bad.

Another thing you can do is datalog it. Take note on what kpa, tps this is happening at. This way you can 0 in on the area better. Could even be in the ve tables.

Ok had little time to get the exhaust on and tunned. I welded close the crossover so now it has a half ass duel exhaust and still a stock air cleaner.
I reVtuned and set the lug areas around the idle and cruise and high rpm. I had got the 60% throttle to show highest map in the 2000-4500 range. It great having a scren for tunning. Most areas were white with the new tune. So I loaded it up and rode. Had some popping and mild blurping. I lowered the decel enleanment and popping is very mild if any. Blurp was still there. I messed with accel enrichment raising it and it got a tad worse so I leaned it atad the other way and same blurp. I had found out that the throttle closed spark was set at 16 deg. So I raised it to 25 deg and that made a big difference. I had no popping or blurping till I gotalmost home and it blurpped.

So is it ok to raise the closed throttle spark more than 25 degrees with no issue? Do I have to do somthing else? Like I said I had little time. I will have more time sunday.
