Where to get the best prices on tires??
Thanks for the help,
SR

Jireh cycles seems to be just a few dollars cheaper than most but depends on what kind of tire. If you live in the middle of the country they have pretty fast shipping out of the St Louis area. Tires have shot up in price drastically in the last year or so. The front tire i bought 2 years ago for $72 is now $90.

The last 3 I got were from Dennis Kirk.  They only charged $5/tire shipping, and had about the best prices I could find.

Thanks Guy's, Looks like American has the best prices.

Dennis Kirk for me. Great and prompt service. Often free shipping. Sells tons of tires so they are always fresh.

Unless I was looking wrong Kirk was 188.99 for Dunlop 402 MT90-16. Superstore 100.99 free shipping.

I just got my tire from Kirk last week. Good price and $5 shipping, but the date code is 4/07. That was a little dissappointing!

Denniskirk will always beat the best price by $1.  find your best price via magazine ad or internet site and tell Dennis kirk the ad or site and they beat it by a buck.  That said they sent me the wrong tire one time (tire that came was different than the invoice and not what I ordered) and they wanted me to pay to have it shipped back.  I told them it was thier screw up so they needed to pay to have it shipped back.  took about an hour on the phone but eventually they paid.

I just ordered a Dunlop MT90B-16 FRT from Ron Ayers @ $104.00 shipped to the front door.  Shipping was $12.00

I think that most people who order tires and install them themselves have no idea how old their tires actually are. i ordered my last set for the ol's bike from J&P Cycles. They were higher than others but a bunch of us at work ordered some stuff on sale so i wasn't out any shipping. The tires came from Drag Specialties and this was somewhat confusing but the front tire was 3 month old and the rear was 1 month old. I would rather pay a little more for a new tire than worry about old rubber. I might have just gotten lucky on these tires though, just dont know. I wonder if anyone else has sent tires back because of age.

I have ordered a few tires from Ron Ayers, they took a couple weeks to get, but they were manufactured recently, a month or two at the most. I don't even bother to shop around any more!
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

dennis kirk and chaparral motorsports sell so many tires they are still warm from the mold.  order from either and you will never get an old tire.  I believe Ron Ayers probably moves a lot too.

How do you check the date on Dunlop?
Thanks,

There is 4 numbers in a row...The first 2 are the week and the last 2 are the year...
1406...would be the 14th week of 2006...I bought 10 tires off e bay...They were between 4 and 7 years old...
Ride it...Break it...Fix it...Repeat...

When I go through a back tire every 5-6 months I don't really worry too much about the tire's age.  It will wear out long before it gets old.

Dennis The Menace

smoserx, same here.  Rear tire every year, front tire every other year.  I use rubber conditioner on sidewalls to keep them from weather checking.  no issues in all these years and dozens of tires.
