I want to change the grips on my 2012 Tri Glide. The right side instructions say to follow the instructions in the service manual. I was hoping to not buy one for a while and certainly didn't want one for this procedure. Are there any surprises in store or specific do's or don'ts if I open it up without looking at the manual?

Thank you,
Stephen

Open the housing, pull the grip out and push new one in. Pretty simple.
EASY
Just ride the damned thing!

Very straight forward, just remember to pull brake lever in and wedge a small wooden stur stick between lever and housing to hold lever away from stop switch as if you don't do this you can damage switch ,I always drip a drop of lube on bar for the grip to slide on makes it smooth, clutch side the switch block must come apart to allow grip to come off
Keep your feet on the pegs and your right hand cranked

Thank you for the quick responses. Even I can do that.
Next job, add the back rest. I've already been under the seat, no surprises.

Thank you again.

runamuck

I just changed out the handle bars on my '09. you need to make sure the grips you buy are for the TBW style bike. they have an internal shape that meshes with the throttle mechanism that other grips dont have..there is a reostat type device inside the handlebar.
