Should spark plugs be removed and installed on a hot or cold engine?

A good way to and another one of those "are you serious" threads.
No offense to the OP intended.
Steve made a good point about the carbon on the threads that hang inside the chamber.
That can and will cause difficulty during removal sometimes.

Otherwise all I can say is I've been changing spark plugs all my life but I've never waited for an engine to fully cool down or heat one up in order to get them out. the exception being some Ford f****** V8's.... then you better have your ducks in a row.


But for any other motor hot cold or in between...just common sense and the proper tools and techniques seem to work every time. I don't use a torque wrench but if you lack experience it sure couldn't hurt.
I put a small amount of antiseize on EVERY plug regardless of engine type and a small amount of dielectric grease inside every plug boot to ease future removal. Has worked for many many years so I'll keep doing the same.
