2014 street glide S with 6.5 boom box radio. when riding radio makes a snap or pop noise discharge every few minutes....almost like it generating static electricity. everything appears to be grounded and set up properly. Any ideas?

Probably should have waited till the worked the bugs out.  It will take them a year or two.  They still have issues with the Harmon Kardon Advanced Audio System.

Sounds like grounding but I would 1) up date to latest software. 2) Brand new bike I would take it in.  Even if a ground "looks ok"  may not be making a good clean connection.  Last minute thought could be a loose pin in one of the plugs or loose plug.

Did you ask your dealer? Warranty issue for sure.
They would probably keep changing parts until the issue went away.

FYI--i have found a thread on another site where this same issue is occurring. There is a new release software upgrade 8-27-13 which is supposed to be solving this issue. Will download and see if the snap crackle pop resolves....

My radio started popping immediately.  Took it back to the dealer.  He said they had already received a service bulletin about radio problems.  They have tried to fix it once.  No luck.  Going back today.  Called HD customer support. Set up a claim.  They told me they had not received any other complaints.  1-800-258-2464.  The squeaky wheel gets the grease

My local dealer set up a claim as well. The download did not fix the issue.

went to another dealer today to ask about radio issues.  He told me lots of complaints about popping and ckackeling.  Told me up front there is no fix at this time.  HD knows about it.  They are working on it.  Check back in a month.

HogMike

There is a procedure listed in your boom box book I believe to at least test all the speakers.
You need to be in diag mode to do this.
I tried it out on my bike and it sends a tone to each speaker.
That will at least eliminate speakers.
Also if it's on a radio station, check antenna connections.

They checked my connections and replaced the antenna wire.  No change.  Dealer said, Check back in a month.

Have the dealer pop the radio out and swap for a new one.

It just never stops amazing me that with all the testing they claim to do that they don't catch this stuff; would be nice if after all the 24 hour proving ground time, they would give one to someone that actually RIDES a touring bike, let them keep it for a month, and turn it back in with a diary of issues

go to the info screen and check the software level to make sure it is 1.17, mine is at 1.16.9 and needs updated. easily updated from download on hd site. Mike

we got our first POPPER in today,, called tech services and they told us to look under the metal tray in the tour pac and look for a wire rubed thru or pinched,, also told us to look underneath the battry box and look for the same,, said the wire doesn't need to be broken but "pinched" and wanted us to check the ohms resistanse  of said wires,, found a bad one in,, under.. the battery box,, problem sloved,, or so it seems
