I adjusted the pushrods and I can't get the Colony push rod tube covers on.  I assembled them like the stock ones I took off.  The only difference is the colony kit came with FAT cork gaskets.  I assume these go at the top where the tube goes into the head.  Well.... I can't compress the spring collar enough to get the cover to snap on.  What am I doing wrong?

I'm wondering if I got the wrong kit even though it says "evolution" and the cork is for shovel head motors.  Maybe I need the stock o-rings for the head... the covers looked the same as the old ones.

Greg,
O-rings are what you want up in there.
Those corks are for up to early-1979 Shovels.
You need a OE # 11157 to be used with your OE covers, and those should be in that Cometic top-end set we sent over.

Scott, you rock!  I didn't think to look in there for o-rings.  Saves me a trip to the dealer.  I'm gonna have to pull the rockers off again....  Glad I didn't put the rocker box covers on yet.

Kit has small black orings and fat brown ones. I tried the brown, they fit the head nice but couldn't get the clips in. With the black orings, I can get the clips on. I'm just worried they're the wrong size and will leak.

the fat ones go in heads the skinny black orings go in lifter blocks and the smaller diameter go in under collar on tubes

Thanks. Just pulled it apart again and got the fatties in there. Tight but the covers went on.
