So what are your thoughts on the Mahle V-twin offerings currently available like those through Suburban Harley

If you don't have a sense of humor you probably have no sense at all.

evostroker

high quality stuff. I would use them. Have used Mahle in an alcohol dragster.

No one has more experience designing pistons for Motorsport.
Get the principles down first, they'll never change.

Mahles makes the OEM pistons, how bad can they be?

TorQuePimp

hard to argue with bang for the buck on the 110-113 pistons......still not a fan of any 107 but if you were gonna do one id use Mahle given a choice.

Or for any applications,  Cummins uses them, including the ISX 600 hp with monotherm piston to get a million miles.

If I could nail down the cost, I would've used Mahle pistons in my little build.

They're popular with German cars, I've used them in my Audi when I built a GT3071R turbo kit.  35psi boost with 115 Octane fuel.

autoworker

Great choice.I wish there were more forged pistons made of 4032 like the Mahles. They can be run with less clearance than 2618's (most forged pistons).
It must be true,I read it on the internet.

 :agree:
Mahle is a quality piston...look on the fender of every Nascar Cup car...there is a Mahle piston decal on them.

Bob, you tuned my bike and it had the suburban hd piston kit in it, runs great

Yes they are good pistons, and the prices look good too. cheaper than the CP's (no coating) I purchased. If these were available this time last year, I dropped the ball on my 113" rehab.  :crook:

I think there would be a pretty good market for some of you vendors if you were to hook up with Mahle personally and have some custom pistons made for different inch builds.
A piston for 103, 107, 110, 113, 117, 124 engines with either a flat top or domed option available.
This would be a nice selling item if it could be purchsed at a reasonable price and get it in a timely delivery.
It seems to be getting harder and harder to get companies like CP to do any custom pistons with a decent turn around delivery for a decent price.

Ok I will bite what is a decent turn around time for a custom pistons and then the price.. At this point we have custom pistons made by CP on a very regular basis, and turn around is about 3 weeks . I can buy one set at a time as well.

But lets here what others think

believe it or not, that's just a part of a contigency deal, we had a arca car years ago and we was running that mahle sticker while using je pistons in our car, I will tell you that most cup teams use either roush yates or bme pistons now days, chad

The way I understand it . Mahle will not make anyone other than suburban HD . , the exact piston , that they designed .
For instance if you wanted a 9 cc dome 113 piston . They won't make it for you . You buy it from suburban HD .
I haven't confirmed this with Mahle . No reason for me to .
In this cutthroat performance world . I like that concept .
If suburban spent all the time ,money and R&D engineering their own piston.
It isn't fair to let someone else copy it and call it theirs .
A scientific theory summarizes a hypothesis
repeated testing establishes theory

I guess the next question would be ; Who makes the pistons for Roush, Yates, Bme,  ect. I would not think they would have their own foundry.

you think Roush/Yates is making pistons for Hendrix....I don't think so.
I was under the impression that blank pistons were purchased by some Cup teams and were machined in house by those that had the capability to do it. Other teams without the machining facilities would purchase pistons from the teams that had a machining facility.
I know of two guys here on the HTT forum that work for Cup teams...maybe they can chime in on it.
I know they both don't advertise that they work for Cup teams...so they might not be willing to disclose anything on the subject.

Mahle doesn't have a b2 piston in 4.125 or 4.375" bore...wonder if the contract with Suburban is all encompassing?
