1949 rider on a 1998 xlh1200

looking to replace my '98 xlh1200 (rigid mount, carb). leaning toward a xl1200c (rubber mount, EFI, ABS). Could be talked into an FXDB or an FXDF if I can be convinced that the hydraulic tensioners have resolved the cam-chain idler issue. Looking for info here.
