Got the POR 15 kit and did my tank with it as well. I'm real happy with it and can't see that stuff coming off. Lol, got it all over my basement wash sink and it will be on there forever unless I take a grinder to it. I ordered the kit on Amazon and it came with a stripper, a metal prep, and the coating itself.

We had 92 FLHTCU tank cleaned and coated at WV Spring & Raiditator for like $75, done a nice job inside and it was Nasty!! Little ruff on paint though...

I had an early triumph tank that I did many years ago.  I removed the coating inside completely with Ball bearings and muriatic acid.  I was going to recoat it but figured I would leak test it first.  I found one leak and soldered it up.  leak tested again just fine and I never sealed the inside afterwards.  Rode the bike as it was for 5-6 years without issues.  Just sayin' is a coating even nessesary?
If you have to stop and think about if it is right or wrong, Assume it is wrong.

If the tank is otherwise sound,I would just leave it alone. As I mentioned earlier, a wash with phosphoric acid will prevent rust if the tank is kept full when the bike is parked.

They coat them at the factory, but they are dealing with new metal.
