Looking for a set of stainless diamond cut spokes and nipples. 16" single disk front 00 FLSTC.
Hoping someone knows where to get a set that wont brake the bank but be good quality.
Thanks,

JB

Buchanan?

JBarrettB

Buchanan.
Yeah, I have seen these and like them, nice product. Kinda pricey for this need and hard to justify to my customer.
Any other ideas?

Well anything else is going to be Chinese. I have laced several wheels with Buchanan and I wouldn't use anything else, regardless of cost.

You can find other items on eBay or J&P but the quality is going to be lower. There is stainless and then there is stainless. There are a number of grades and types. Some is magnetic, some is not and there's no way to tell what grade it is unless you buy it from a name brand source.

^^^^ I agree. My life is riding on my wheels.  People spend thousands on chrome add-ons.  Your life has to be worth $150 for a set of quality spokes.  I won't buy from anyone other than Buchanan's.

At $150.00 I'd be in but at $212.00, I'm looking for options.
I know you get what you pay for.
Thanks for the input guys!

Ultrashovel, know anything about Landmark?   I thought they were USA made, use 303 and offer spoke kits.  They're still out of the OP $$ range

No, I haven't used Landmark. If they certify that they use 303 grade, that would be a selling point with me. 303 is strong but ductile and, once laced and tightened, they tend to stay put.

The alternative would be chrome at this point, I guess. Even though my 2011 Dyna has chromed spokes, I don't ordinarily like them since they are usually just plated and there is no heat treatment to prevent hydrogen embrittlement. I'm reasonably sure that Haley knows about this issue and does the properlheat treatment. I sure hope so, anyway. LOL.

I was in a scrambles race many years ago and the fellow just ahead was on a Triumph 650 Scrambler. He hit a bump and the front wheel collapsed and drove the hub right down to the inside of the rim. I missed him but rode right over his bike, but the resulting crash bent the frame on my BSA Gold Star which I had to have straightened.

I looked at the guy's spokes and several of them had sheared off where they hooked into the holes in the hub. That was an eye-opener for me. The problem was widespread, too at that time.

The old-time Harleys used cadmium-plated spokes which gave a nice gray finish. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find a place that does cad plating anymore since it's listed as a carcinogen. Bike restorers can get it done though and some people do their own.

You say that Landmark is still too expensive. Well, lacing wheels isn't cheap even for the labor. You need to tell your client to pony up and dig in. Good bikes don't come cheap.

Happy Trails!

Thanks for the info...

I use Buchcanan's their just 75 miles from me, but Landmark is also a California company (Oceanside) so I wondered... have purchase other items from them just not wheels or spokes ($199.00).

Maybe find a used wheel instead?
For me personally, I would use a high quality product for wheels, as opposed to trying to meet a price point.

One member on here said he used to work on motorcycles and boats.
Motorcycle customers always asked how much.
Boat customers always asked when.
He works on boats now.

Ah... yeah, I guess Diamond cut (and probably polished) are more pricey than the plain round spokes I always buy.
