Is there a way to set a map as original or as baseline, so then future changes can be compared easily? Now I create a new map, make some changes, and I have to copy a previous map table to do the compare. I must be missing something. I'm using MT2.

I found the answer - could not find it in the manual, but using the Help inside Mastertune 2 - searching I founding it.
Baseline Calibration
The Baseline Calibration is the set of tables that are loaded each time a calibration file is opened. Every time a calibration file is saved and re-opened for editing, a new 'Baseline' is established, and all changes are relative to that new baseline.

That's correct.  The original goes back all of the way to the base map you loaded before v-tuning/dyno tuning etc.

Pretty handy to be able to compare to baseline when making multiple changes to a map.
