Took the primary off my buddies 95 bagger today. He's been having trouble with his charging system, so I decided to have a look-see. Lo & behold, I find a magnet broken off, and another one split in half. As you know, money is kinda tight, so we dont want to replace anything we dont have to. Is there any way to check the stator to see if its still okay? Cant find any marks or anything out of the ordinary. Everything looks good VISUALLY with the stator, even though the rotor is shot. Continuity test? TIA guys....

Three tests for a bad stator out of the bike:  One, there should be continuity between the two leads.  Two, there should be no continuity between either of the two leads and the metal ring with the mounting holes.  Third, it should not smell like the worst ***** you've ever smelled.  Installed in the bike, it should produce 20VAC per thousand rpm while passing the previous tests.  Ray

Agreed.  Stators regulators are yet another thing that you never want to replace with the HD OEM ones.

Cycle Electric products carry a two year warranty.
