Been with the same insurance company since 1982. They have the house, car, and bike. Decided to check around for the bike. AARP was alot cheaper than everybody else. Any of you guys have any experience with them? Such as paying claims, which I hope I never have! I'm located in  Indiana.

AARP insurance is through Foremost, a solid company as long as the CEO isn't cooking the books. That is who I am currently with.
Check some more companies, you might get better rates.
All I can say about claims is, when I was with Progressive and had two claims (a stone hole in the belt and the theft of my bike), they were outstanding in the pay out department!

truck,
i'm with progressive and i didn't know they would cover things like a belt.
that's good to know, did they cover 100% less the deductable ?

IMO
I have my home owners policy and my bikes insurance with the same insurance company.  This is my thinking.  If something happens when a bike is torn apart, I don't want finger pointing between insurance companies.  Bike insurance co. saying, “The bike is not together, therefore your home owners insurance should cover it.” And vice versa.

Progressive quickly got me and the shovel back on the road in 04 after tangling with a hit and run driver. They covered my parts and my time putting it back together plus the uninsured motorist coverage. They currently cover my 76 FLH and my 09 Fatbob.  Both bikes are fully covered for $685/year. (I can not quote all the details from here but I do have a $500 deductible) I am 49 with a clean record.

Due to all the clowns behind the wheel with no regard for anything or anyone I can not stress getting the uninsured motorist coverage enough. I wish I'd jacked it way up instead of the $20K I had. Came in real handy

Have you talked to Abate of Indiana's insurance provider?

Yes 100% less the $250.00 deductible for a stone hole in the belt, it was covered under comprehensive.
The adjuster came to my house, took some pictures and cut me a check on the spot.
The check amount was within a few dollars of what the dealer said it would cost.

Wow this is weird!
I just got back from my mailbox and my motorcycle policy renewal papers were in there.
Time to shop again and see who will save me some money.

To renew with foremost...$383.00 a year
No difference in coverages between the companies.
Your results may vary. :smiled:

Funny I should look at this now.
Just received mail from Allstate saying to call them for a quote.
I just now got off the phone with them, they quoted be double in price what I have with Foremost.
The agent said, do you want to continue?
Gee, can I think about that?   Let's see, double $$$ or stay low with mine?

Politely I said no thank you.

Man! That figure is right at the point where, if it were mine I'd hope they would give me the option to repair or replace. I'd replace.
Didn't you wreck because of a blown rear tire a while back? And now you get hit by an alien!
Sux to be you for sure.
I hope you recovered fully from that blown tire, I know it was touch and go, there for a while.

Everyone should shop at renewal time, it keeps the insurance companies on their toes and the rates low. And saves you some dollars.

Cotton states ... They cut my premiums in half compared to progressive. They just started with bikes. I have auto insurance with them and they handled OL twice and no cancel and no increase.  Go figure.
