Can anyone tell me if the rubber bushing on a Glide Pro front motor mount is supposed to be bonded to the metal mounting plate? Ive had one in my 02 flht for about 10k miles and a buddy and me were trying to figure out this strange metallic like click/ tick and rattle on my bike. We then fired up his 04 with the same setup, including the front mount. His motor was nice and smooth and mine was bouncing up and down which I think may be causing the top stabilizer link to click/tick. I pulled the front mount tonite and didnt find any obvious damage, except that the rubber is not bonded to the metal plate, which Im not sure if its supposed to be or not.
Oh, and is there anything else I should check as to why this motor is bouncing like this. I did notice an increased vibration as well especially at idle. Starting to wonder if the stabilzer links are worn out. The rear bushings look good.

Thanks

Well I contacted Glide Pro via email last nite. The owner, Jake emailed me back within an hour & told me he would send me out a new one, free of charge. A little later, I got an email from who I believe is his wife, Deb. Since I purchased the mount online from a dealer who I cant remember, she set me up an account and is shipping me a new mount tomorrow morning. They just asked that I send the old one back so they can analyze why it failed. Man, talk about customer service, thats A+ in my book. This all started after I sent them a simple email asking if the bushing should be bonded to the plate because mine didnt appear to be.

I was chasing a noise in my bike and switched motor mounts from a Glide Pro to the one Stabo sells.  I immediately fell a ton more vibration especially around 1500 to 2000 RPMs.  As soon as I got home, I swapped the Glide Pro back and and back to normal!  A pleasant riding bike.  The Stabo one is rock hard and as with almost any rubber type product has vibrations in certain areas.  Where this one vibrated made me want to get rid of the bike.

good people .
I usually hate to wear someone out on the phone . but Jake probably spent enough  time helping me and BSing on the phone with me ,that he lost money on my kit.
when I had my little tank slapper episode ,he offered to send me a new kit, just send mine back if I though it was the problem. turned out it wasen't anything to do with the kit.

That is probably the reason he didn't take mine back and give me a refund.. Also he did an alignment for free..Way more time than you I bet..  :embarrassed: Funny a friend who works as Gillespie Field asked him if he ever had anyone try and return one. He said "no"..

Did you pull the unit out to inspect after the episode??  Or was the broken faring mounts your conclusion as the source?  Sure it wasn't the result?

Yes I pulled it back out .
Loose neck bearings was my conclusion

I payed a tech friend of mine to do the fall away . And replace the  faring brackets .
At that point , I wasent trusting myself . I was also leaving on a 2 week tour , with the bike.
He took it in on a Monday , when they were closed .
I ate Mexican food and drank margaritas across the street , while he worked on it .
With every cable off the bars the fall away was 5 .
I have to admit .. I have calmed my chit down a lot since then .
But so far so good on this setup .
Still interested it testing your new setup though . :fish:

BTW way Max,
It's not that I didn't believe you and had to ask Glide Pro about the mount. I emailed them first and didn't expect such a quick reply so I thought I'd ask here too.

Thanks,

Sounds like a better way to to fix the bike..

Unfortunately the new setup would require going back to the OEM pivot shaft and donuts..

It''s good to see you were taken care of.. I suspect that in your case it's a downright fialure, it was easier for him to replace it.. In my case it could be considered a mater of opinion..   He might have figured I just wanted to see what it was like then return it.  I didn't purchase it with that in mind tho....

while speaking of tightening front head bearings I just bought the 1 1/2 inch combo wrench from tractor supply and did not even have to pull the radio to tighten it was bent in the perfect spot to use
