Have run the e3 looking at the American Elite. Any info?

Exactly.  The American Elites are a home run for Dunlop.

Thanks for the input. Ordered from Jake Wilson. Cheaper than e3's also. Rebate makes it $205/set delivered.

Lonegoose, Would You Mind sending me a Link to What You Bought, By P.M., so You Don't get Booted for Hotlinking or whatever, Would Really Appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

E3 seems to square off quickly....is that fixed with the AE?

American Elite rear tires have multi-compound construction (harder compound in the center, softer compound elsewhere) while the E3's do not...

That seems to be the million dollar question. I was always happy with the E3s, especially 10 years ago when I had Gold Wings which had somewhat stiffer frames without rubber engine mounts. When I finally switched to Harleys I discovered a loss of handling stability when they flattened out when they were about half wore out with the rubber mounts being weakened over time and miles as well. I am now on my second set of dual density Com 2s and have noticed that they handle much better as the miles pile on as they retain their round profile quite a bit longer and last much longer then the softer compound Dunlops. I am waiting to see what kind of mileage people report as well as how the Metzler 888s as well although if my experience with these Com2s wearing this well continues it will be hard to get me to change!

Two of my last three sets of Metzler's chunked a rear tire.  I just mounted a set of American Elites and will be leaving for a many thousand mile trip in a few weeks.  I'm hoping for good mileage, good rain grip and no chunking!

I ran about 42 psi in the rear, 40 psi in the front.  Mostly ride two up pulling a bushtec.  Averaged about 8K rear tire mileage with the Metzlers...

A photo of my last Metzler rear.  The first set I ran had an almost identical chunk missing at about 7500 miles...  And these were made in Germany, not Brazil...

I have seen many a Metzler do the same thing.

I have the Commander 2's on the bike right now. I don't think its a bad tire but I have a couple of problems with it.
Tar snakes in a turn it skids, never experienced that with the e-3's. It was so bad going up Chief Joseph HWY the wife even
noticed it. Second going over a railroad track or a sharp bump with both of us on bike it seems to collapse the tire to the wheel.
Tire pressure at 42 and tried also 44. Wife is 136lbs I am 233 lbs. Worse when loaded for trip. Its like  construction of the tire  is not as beefy as the E-3. I am hoping the american Elite has  stout construction.
