A buddy of mine found two different cams in his TC88 big bore. SE-203 as a front cam and SE-211 as a rear cam. Does this make any sense?

Somebody fricked up. Or one cam got damaged somehow and instead of replacing the set they just found another to take its place.

This place has had cams with different front and rear design for a few years.  I've never asked them about them though.

The front and rear cylinders of these engines are so different I can see why it could/would be done.

How did it run? I'm wondering about; CCP front to rear, head temps, and vibration issues.

I can see the reasoning behind it. Not sure if it actually works however.

A 203 and a 211 are to far apart to make any since.

Once upon a time I did receive a set from HD that had two different cams in the same box, but it was just a miss package from the factory.  I returned that set, they sent me a replacement set and all was good.  Makes you wonder if the guy installing the OPs looked before leaping...
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Now you know where the other half of that set went (or the ones you returned).

I'm Sure MAX can explain what way would work best.....  203 front 0r Rear ? 211''s front or rear?

I know the front to rear cylinders are different animals as the timing changes and the firing/timing Makes a difference on them...

One pushing the other More than the Other pulling... :argue:

Seriously asking for an Answer please... ALL opinions wanted IF OK with Karl?

My buddy came from a Guzzi California and was very impressed how the 95CI engine pulled. But he complained about hard start and rough idle...

I have used 2 exhaust cams (replacing the intake cam) in 650 / 750 Triumphs with great results improving torque and all round response from 2000 to 5000 RPM. I don't see any reason a V twin with a short shared intake trac can't be run with 2 different cams as long as they are timed appropriately to take advantage of the intake conditions when they hit on that stroke.

Don't remember where the thread is but the guys at AMS in TX had messed around with unmatched cams.
If you don't have a sense of humor you probably have no sense at all.

You cann't compare a Triumph engine with separate cams for intake and exhaust with a TC engine having a front and a rear cam imho.

No, that was not my intention. That is why I included the statement about the difference in intake trac and timing events.

Simply stated, the fact a cam designed for exhausting and not intake (in "any" engine) would work so well (and in fact better than an original intake cam) is evidence that engines will run if you put fuel / air mix in before compression and get it out before the next sequence. The more you refine the process, the more you can regulate the power.

Hi @all, I´m Bernd, Börni, or Berni, the Buddy of Karl, having the different Cams found in my bike. (Goin' to introduce myself later), just to come in here. ;-)
Actually, the bike came from a dealer Arlington/Texas, "buyyourmotorcycle.com", maybe there is a mechanic with extremly astigmatism, working for Harley. I got it just this January and it is my first HD.
It is fully tuned by Screamin Eagle parts, from a 95cui II Stage on and more. I didn´t know about that all, but thought, it would be good. :-)

Bike was running great from low to high tpm, until a needlebearing of the frontcylindercam broke and shot my oilpump down. To don´t risk more mistakes, I bought a SE-203 camkit today and will post the result allso here. Maybe I can surprise someone, having to tell, the unequal pair was better. ;-)
But then, we have to discuss the reason! Do we want that really?

Greetings,
Yes, V-Cam!
(Mostly) having fun with my Fatty!

You have the rare SE 207 cams.   :hyst:
211 - 203 = 8

p.s. send back those wimpy 203's and get some 204's.
