I heard Victory are very reliable bikes. Never did like their style.
I like the looks of H-D and Indian. I own 2 Harley and a Chief Vintage.
Do not believe Victory had sold more that 4K units per year. For 60K units for 15 years...
I heard and do not quote me...Indian had sold 10K units for MY14 and they have 10K non-refundable deposits for MY15 Scouts...who knows the truth...
H-D sells a "blank canvas" for you to "make it your own"
You have to change pipes, H/B, some times seats just for the bike not to burn your legs...still, I will buy an Indian or H-D for their looks, retro style, heritage etc...

Aren't the Victory bike Belts still set-up like the Sportster belts in that they are an EASY Change?

Carmen Tom of Down-Town Harley showed me that years ago up at the Oyster Run in Anacortes Wa. where Victory was showing their New Bikes...

Got this TAP on the shoulder and Carman Tom says...." BUBBIE, come and look at a Great design that the Big Twins should have"...

Walking a 1/2 block to the Victory Display,

He pointed out on the Victory models How EASY the belt was to change...

I sure Liked that guy... Remembered his OLD shop (before he was a HD Dealer) making choppers out of some nice Panheads... and selling JAWA's  at that time on Rainier Avenue in Seattle Wa.  around 60 years ago... Man i'm OLD... :hyst:

Super Dave

My brother has a Vision and loves it. When he was looking for bikes, I said, "just don't get a Vision, they are ugly". So much for my opinion.
I like to see the mechanics on bikes, push-rod tubes, oil lines and the like. The Vision motor just looks very plain.
I had a Yamaha Stratoliner which was a great bike and had the art deco style I like and the mechanical look I like. I'm on my second Harley and the difference in paint and chrome quality is dramatic. We pay extra put you can't say Harley doesn't put on nice thick chrome and paint and has a model for just about any taste.
Another visual thing I don't care for on some Victory models is the rear tire is way to small for the fender. Seems like a design flaw that would be easy to fix.
If someone wants to buy and ride one, I don't really care.
I do think Victory, Indian and the imports are raising the bar, encouraging Harley to stay on top of their game. My 2014 Ultra is smooth as silk on the freeway, has tons of power and handles like a sport bike. Chrome and paint are flawless, sound sysem is awsome,  GPS gets me where I want to go and has waaaay more storage thats easy to use than my 2004 Ultra.
I believe the design engineers were told to "respect the history but embrace new technology", something like that. With my model anyway, I think they hit a home run. Maybe not out of the park, but at least past the cheap seats.

Problem is with tradition the primary and secondary drive in the same holes of the gear box. Vic, Indian, and of course most bikes are gear drive so the belt sprocket is wide open for service. I think Sportster and v rod are done this way also in the Harley line. Most likely the new Street would be likewise. 1/2, hour, probably less, belt changes make the task a no biggie deal.

Which means squat to to the average person buying a Harley today. They simply don't care because if and when the belt breaks, they get on their cell phone and pull out their credit card...........

Not an HD copy huh? So the cross country came before the street glide? Pfft

Pretty hard not to copy the StreetGlide, it's been out since at least the 70's:

Harpo

Only one thing wrong with it......................It 'aint a Harley.

Tsani

Still ugly tho.
Just not my cup of tea/ Otherwise, they seem fairly well made. I have a few friends that have them and seriously considered one when they first intro'ed.
I just cant get past the styling.

I like that they are listening to their customers. 21 inch front wheel, apes, etc. Unfortunately they still can't make a bike that isn't hideous.
Apes??. Those bars look like they come back at a 50 degree angle......wheelbarrow mode, or boat tiller, not for me..........

It's not the point. The point is the company is giving options. The option Harley gives us buy it with stock bars and we'll sell you the bars for 1300.

The Indian is coming on strong, im sure Polaris will combine the two (Indian/Victory)very soon..
The big issue is dealer network. Local Vic dealer don't have the floor space for Indian due to limited space. Mind you they sell many other brands as well. Triumphs a hot seller for them recently. Closest Indian dealer is 100 miles away. Have the dealers plentiful and close enough, then some serious chit will come about. Several I've talked to did the test rides, liked the bikes but lack of close proximity for service kept them from making the move. In a few years, who knows? As an example, there are two HD dealers within 30 miles in two directions of my home.

Ron

I went on a trip this summer to Northern Arizona and New Mexico and saw a lot of the new Indians. My indie works on Victories and even owns a few, he said they are really good bike, well made.

It's exactly the point. The neck is too far from the rider. I like my bars to be close to the angle of The forks, i have more control in hi and o speed riding. Do that to a vic or indian you wouldn't need apes, you"d need to be an ape to reach them.

Again, I'm not talking about the motorcycle in general, never ridden it.  I'm talking about a company listening to it's customer base and giving then the options they desire. Understand?

Get it, but i think it's just good marketing. They see what the HD guys do,and did it. I clicked the link and the bike in the photos looks way  better. The bars are much better and the floor boards look pretty big. Not bad

Right on.  Lol. I wasn't trying to be a prick just think we were misunderstanding each other.

I'm by no means a fan of anything Victory. Just a guy that loves his Harley but wants them to listen and build us a better bike. If that means having another player come along to push them, I'm all for it.
