I need to replace the headlamp bulb in my 2012 Street Glide. Manual says to replace with correct wattage but doesn't say what that is. I'm assuming I can get a replacement bulb at any auto parts store, regardless of what HD tells you.
What is the correct wattage of bulb and can I go to anything higher? Can I replace it with a blue tint one as fitted to some newer cars? I really notice those coming at me and figure this is a good thing if they can be used.
Thanks in advance for the info.

One completely NON tech notion from left field - I'd bet the bulb itself has the wattage labeled on it - pull that out and check at local auto parts outlet for a match?

I get mine at auto parts store all the time. Take it out and show the counter guy. Ask him your questions.

have had good luck with the sylvania silverstar bulb for the headlight in my 2005 eglide classic. is not the blue tint but just a brighter white. i would stick to the stock bulb wattage which i beleave is 55 watts, anything more may be too much for wires, switches, etc.

Using the PIAA bulbs in the RG two of them with no problems. I think the ones I used are 55Watt.
Here is their application guide:

Thanks for the suggestions and links everyone. I'll go to my local auto parts place and see what they have for a replacement.

Just a left field suggestion- buy a H4 HID bulb. I have two HIDs in my FLHX. I bought the Harley-Davidson kit and the HID is still running great. The high beam was a halogen though... So I pulled it and put in a H8 (high beam only) bulb. It is a 60W HID high beam. It melts retinas. It's awesome on a dark and stormy night.

Just a suggestion.
