Fuel leak

2000 fxsts   leaking fuel small amount from the gauge wire on the bottom of the left tank at the front.  is there a seal or something thats gone bad?

Your gasket has headed south located under the fuel gauge. Lift the gauge straight up (just minor wiggling). Don't aggresively twist the gauge or you will break the wiring. There is a plate with four screws at the bottom of the gauge-pocket. Take those out clean and replace with a new gasket. I also applied a thin coat of gasoline-resistant sealer to both sides of the gasket when I did mine a few years ago. All good since then.
Oh...drain you tank first.

and you will have to pull the sending unit from the tank to accomplish this. Not a big job, just go easy pulling and reinstalling the sending unit...don't force anything.

Hopefully it's just the above and not a cracked stand-pipe that the wiring feeds through...that would suck.

Or pin hole in the stand pipe from rust which would be an easier fix.
