I've got a '99 sportster and had a recent lay down. I'm looking at pipes and I have an option for sticking with the thunder headers or switching out to a Bossani road rage 2. I know nothing about pipes and was hoping for some educated guidance and opinions.
The engine has been bored out to 20 over and I've got Andrews N2 cams.
Thanks in advance.

We have a library of dyno test results on various XL pipes that you might find useful, you can find it here: http://www.hammerperf.com/ttxlexhaust.shtml
However, the tests are skewed highly toward the rubber mount bikes (04+).

Pipes for the 86-03 XL's have been getting discontinued left and right, they're getting harder and harder to come by. All our favorites have been discontinued.

If you have forwards, the old Samson Caliber was the best one we ever tested. But it's been discontinued about 4 years now and they're almost impossible to find anymore.

If you have mids, the absolute best pipe we've found is the Patriot Defender - notice how it's beat everything we've tested it against. It's made for 04+ but a number of people have successfully fitted it to their 86-03 by fabricating one bracket. It's also very reasonably priced, available here: http://www.patriotpipes.com/models.html
