just got to looking at theses pushrods and they don't have a hole in either end , is this normal because all the other ones I've installed on evo's and twin cams have them.

By the adjusters they are Not Stock. No worries...don't need no hole no-way, on that shovelhead.

While you have them out determine what their threads per inch is. It'll matter going back in.

Their 24 but the way the book says to adjust them is to run them down to the bottom of the lifter and then 1 and haft turns up and that's how I did it when I put the cam in last time and it was a bear trying to get the pushrod out last time because I didn't compress the lifters lol , I'm still learning on theses shovels and I really appreciate the help guys !!!! I do love working on this bike but I don't think I'll ever get all the oil leaks fixed and I've heard for many that's what they do !! LEAK OIL but it drives me crazy , OCD kicks in to much lol

thanks for the compliment where do they usually leak from ive heard they leak between the inner and outer primary but that should be easy to fix also the hose from the oil pump to lubricate the rear chain could cause a oil drip which from memory is adjustable

Racepres

I seal the primary, and the only leaks I have encountered are from the Sprocket shaft...generally the Sprocket nut has Not been Torqued Properly.. Otherwise...leak free is easy.

There was a guy in our town who rode an Ironhead Sporty.  It was the last year  before they went Evo.  The bike was under a tree that was struck by lightning.  He had to do some electrical work on it, but since that time, it's never leaked a drop of oil.
I had 2 Ironheads (one for over 15 years)and couldn't get them to stop leaking for more than about 50 miles.

My Shovel leaks, but its' out of the enclosed driveline, so I just don't run oil in it.  I've got an O-ring chain that I spray with lube every so often.

I have been through my 76 as much as I care to. The only factory parts on it are the oil tank, battery tray, and rear fender. I have brake kleened, snugged up, sealed off, sanded flat, resealed, rerouted, and replaced. She'll still leave a spot after a run.

It's destiny, I'm at peace with it.  :hyst:

When a shovelhead stops leaking, you are low on oil.

Ratman1640

I just tell people that she's just claiming her parking spot  :hyst: and I think I need to check the tranny oil because its not leaking anymore , at least tranny oil lol,  just like dirtymike say she's low !! I took the day off of work because lets face it work suck !!! especially when you work at a hospital and there's 150 women ..... well you get the idea. So rode for 3 hours on the back roads @ 35 mph just enjoying the wind in my face . I feel better now !!! Mike
