Harley doesn't make any evo engine, what engine should i buy , for 1996 ultra classic,
my first time in a blog, i hope i did it right Thanks  Real

Badgerbob

I'm almost positive that Harley has a engine program. I guess the real question is do you want it to be stock or!!!

Mark222

I dropped a S&S 111 in my 91 FLHTCU when the 80"er expired.  Never have regretted that move!

The way I understand it, the factory rebuild has been discontinued. While it was a nice program, it built the engine to factory specs. I also understand that S&S is now doing a reman program of the same type, but possibly with upgraded cam bearing and gaskets.. If I were looking for someone to do the entire build for me, I'd call S&S as well as some of the sponsors on here to see what the options are.

If you're going to buy a new engine get an S&S. Lots of options there plus a warranty.

pumpguy68

Revolution performance has plenty of options if you want to keep the 80" or close to that.
S&S is good quality if you have the$$. There are other evo style engines out there if you look on the net

Whats wrong with the engine you have ? , plenty of guys here make it like new

Get a manual, watch some youtubes, buy some tools, ask questions on this forum (thats why all these knowledgable folks are here!) and do it yourself. Its a great load of fun.
Cheers, Flhfxd.   :up

I did the same with my 97 Electraglide DFT trike conversion. Much more power, much smoother. Fantastic!

I sold my motor and put on a revtech 110, wish I kept stock now that S&S will do a rebuild stock or a performance upgrade.

crowriver thunder

Thats awesome mark222 I have the same bike and while its still running smooth I'd like to upgrade the motor one day

I agree with Mark 222, replaced my 80 incher with the 111 S&S in my 94 RK. No regrets there. If you spend some time looking on the web, you can find deals on a motor.

Schex3x

Another S&S 111 here in a '90 EG, Baker OD6 made it even better.

I replaced my stock evo 80 inch motor on my 98 Electraglide Ultra Classic EFI with a Ultima El Bruto 127 cubic inch carbureted high performance motor. The stock 80 inch evo just didn't have the power I needed. Now I have no problems with low power. Can you say "Harley Davidson Crotch Rocket"? I knew you could!
You can't get rid of a bad temper by losing it!

Although there was nothing wrong with the 80" that was in my 1996 FLSTF, I went & installed an Ultima 113" in it. Runs good & fast. No problems with it so far. If I would've had the extra cash, I would've went S&S.

S&S if you can swing it. An Ultima 107 would work to and can be had complete with carb & ign for under $4k.
But what do I know? I drive a party bus.

Ultima 120 best bang for the buck bullet proof for 50,000 miles
If it don`t scare you, It ain`t fast enough.

The S&S 111 is SMOOOOTH and stout.

S&S has a rebuilt 111 on sale right now.   It's a natural finish.

BKACHE

My 113 is in the evo FS swap section. It does honk.
And the bugs are worked out. Just sayin.
