I just purchased my first bike, and I happened to get a badass deal on a 77 sporty.  The carb that it came with was a S&S Super B.  I would like to replace that carb for a couple of reasons... 1. its just too much carb to run with out always being on the gas and kickin ass.  2. it sticks out WAY too far for my likings and would interfere with forward controls.  So my question is, what would be an overall good carb for my bike?  Also, I am looking to go with a stock look on this bike as opposed to the bobber style.  Again, this is my first bike and I'm just starting to learn about bikes, so any other tips and info would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks!

a take off c.v. from a twin cam will do fine.
(I took off my S&S L for hard start reasons.)

the jets should be ok. put in the sporty needle and spring and adjust idle mix after taking out plug.
lots of guys ran the round slide mic 38 on irons
rebuilt bendix would be close to stock.
many options

After doing some reading and asking around, I think I'm going to go with the Mikuni 38.  Thanks for your guys input!  Like I said, any information helps as I'm still trying to learn as much as I can!
