Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

That's a bit too high for me.. I was just curious about two options for my bike.. advancing my 55's +4 w/.040HG or straight up w/.030HG..

The more favorable the tod ratio (longer rod), the longer (in crank degrees) the piston stays at TDC is what it
boils down to.

I like dynomation, we've used it on boat engines. The graphics that it produces are very enlightening and it models
a vtwin fairly decent too.

"Walters accelerator for windows" would a nice program to start with to get your feet wet. Its preloaded with a good amount of V-twin specs.

Not that I'm aware of.  I've spent a mild builds worth $ on software- I started on Accelerator, then Engine Analyzer, then EA Pro, then Dyno Sim, and I'm on the third flavour of Dynomation, some versions are cheaper than others. Dynomation 5 seems to be very popular, and if you spend the time to tweak the inputs so the graphs  closely follow the actual dyno runs, then fairly consistent and reasonable accurate predictions can be modeled. I have flow numbers on all the heads I own, and can electrically swap out cams, pipes, compression, displacement. Pretty handy when it's snowy outside, cuz I don't drink :)

Do you think Dynomation is better than PT?   PT seem to have more knobs on intake and exhaust selection..

BTW, I still think anyone can download the PT software and use it for a month before they want any money..

I can't say which is more accurate but D5 is easier to use with a good outcome. The PT requires more fields to be filled out but does a better job in the education of the engine you are analyzing.

I liked EA Pro, but I had a hard drive crash and they wanted me to buy a new key to use my software.  I spent the $ on D3, them upgraded as the new versions became available.
