Would like suggestion for reputable 2000 twin cam engine re-builders in the Salem to Eugene I-5 corridor in Oregon.  Thanks, lugnut8806

I can't answer that particular question, but if you are going back to stock, I think the HD reman - program would be the best bang for the buck.

Depends on your budget, but one that comes to mind in Oregon is Baisley.  Cohen is in publication quite often haven't had any dealings with them.  Baisley is a performance specialist and I don't know are you doing any of the work yourself.  You removing the motor from the bike?

It's not in your area, but i think it's worth going a little further out of your way to get a good job done. I would say, Latus Harley in Gladstone.

Could probably use a little more info on what you want to do, but here are the shops I know of in the area.

Salem Harley Davidson (formerly known as Walker's Cycles) - No experience with them
American Motorcycle Classics, Albany, OR - Bought my bike and a whole bunch of parts here. Great guys, but I have never had any engine work done there.
Doyle's HD, Eugene - No experience with them
Greg Cohen Motor Company, Springfield, OR - Had my '99 RKC rebuilt by him. Would use him again in a pinch, but would not be my first choice. Build turned out fine and is still running strong so I'm told, but it was difficult getting there. My situation is probably unique, so it's not worth discussing here. I understand her recently sold his dyno and is not in the tuning business anymore.

North of your preferred area is:
Paradise Harley Davidson, Tigard, OR - Good people and I've heard good things from people (some close friends) that have had engine work done there.
Latus Motors HD, Gladstone, OR - Has a good reputation for performance work and tuning. Most of that stems from Mike Stegman who is the head of their performance division and knows his stuff, but I don't know how often he gets into the shop to work on customers bikes. I understand his time is taken up by the dealerships racing ventures. He has a web forum where you can ask him about what you want done. he will respond. You can find the forum off the Latus dealer site.

There are a couple of indy shops around the Portland area also, but I don't have any experience with them.
