Inquiring minds would like to know. Thank you very much! TK.

I could easily set up and run a shop with Quick Books. There is a learning curve and I have been using it for 15 years now. It's perfect for what you need. JMO

+1 on quick books, use the online version, affordable and you can access your data anywhere with a lap top.

Trusting soul?

I cringe bad enough giving any personal information to be entered into a business computer when it's running Microsoft.  I certainly would be reluctant to do so if I knew it was going into a computer I don't know where, or what kind of security is in place, or who has physical access to it.

Matter of fact, most store/business computers I've seen (Windows, more often than not) I'd prefer they didn't have direct access to a public network at all if my information is going in them.

Just sayin'...

Threadkiller, please be responsible and keep the business computer all business.  No recreational WWW browsing, etc.

The last company I worked for did $7mil a year, running Quick Books. I think it will work for the local indy.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

Coyote

I agree with glens. I run QB local only. If you find you need access remotely, there are other solutions.

I use Neat.  It comes with a scanner.  I scan all my finished WO# and scan all my receipts.  It is easy to make a report for end of the month sales tax or end of the year total reports.  My business is all under a bank with a nice web site that allows expense reports for monthly or annually.

Small shop with no employees and a inventory level I don't need to claim.

I should have asked for the "CounterMan" "Parts Look Up" type of thing. Something that keeps you or your guys from having to check several different parts catalogs. Some claim they automatically update/check stock & pricing from many different distributors. Sorry to have troubled you Latrobe.

Is there software that will do that? There probably is, but the only if you enter in all the cross references. Does anyone well software loaded with cross reference for Hardly parts?

I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

harleytuner

This is what you want then.  It not only has OEM part numbers but it also cross references with most distributors (Drag, Tucker Rocky etc.).  Makes life nice
