Tank console fitment

Does the tank speedo console from a Softail fit a Dyna Wide Glide?  The parts manuals show two different part numbers, but they sure look the same to me.  Is there some reason why the Softail one won't fit a Wide Glide tank?  Different mounting point?  Different tank curvature?  Something else?
Reason I'm asking is I need a new one for my Wide Glide, and MSRP for the Softail ones is almost a hundred bucks less...

I've noticed that not all Dynas through the years had the same size or shaped tank so I would imagine there is a difference between Dyna and Saftail. The difference could also be mounting points. It would make sense and save HD money if the tanks were interchangeable but if it shows different part numbers than there is something different.
