Right on Don

Waskier01,

I can give you the Beta Ratio for the Amsoil TC filter but not others.

" Absolute Efficiency
AMSOIL EaO Filters provide a filtering efficiency in accordance with industry standard ISO 4548-12 of 98.7 percent at 15 microns, while competitive filters containing conventional cellulose medias range from 40 to 80 percent efficiency "

EagleFTE

Wix is the only manufacturer that I see publish Beta Ratios for their filters.  If you look up a filter number on their web site they include a pretty good list of specs.  As I recall their Evo filter has a nominal of about 24 microns and the TC filter is about 19 microns.  They provide Beta Ratio for 2 (50%) and 20 (95%) as I recall.  These numbers are for run of the mill paper filters from Wix so the efficency is not all that impressive.  They are supposed to be coming out with a glass type syn media but have not seen any yet.

Most brands hold Beta Ratio data pretty close to the vest.  In my opinion it should be manditory to publish.

Today’s Most Advanced Filtration Product
Ea Oil Filters have been evaluated using today’s benchmark
test, the ISO 4548-12 multi-pass test. AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters
provide 98.7 percent efficiency at 15μ and up to 70 percent
efficiency at 7μ. Competitive filters range from approximately
85 to 92 percent efficiency at 15μ. When it comes to removing
contaminants in the most critical size range (2 to 22μ),
AMSOIL Ea Filters greatly outperform competitive filters.

Yep
In the case of HD there would be progress if they just published oil data. I wish they would get on the stick, but won't likely happen, not a priority.

Harley don't wanna give data because it makes it easier to duplicate a part or compare in the aftermarket.

rip a new unused TC filter apart and you will see why they bypass so much and then offer no filtering. So much media you will wonder how any oil gets through especially when cold. So I just run the EVO filter on everything.

So, who makes Amways filters, and the big question, are they a viable treatment for acne :hyst:

AP & Jit,

Ya mind posting info on a better filter ? ..... I'll listen

Don't know about better, but I have used H-D, Wix, Mobile 1 and Fram and have never had a motor failure due to choice of filter.
I think just about any filter will do. Heck, I used to even have a big old car type filter hanging off my old shovel. Don't know if it did anything but sure beat that screen thing in the oil tank.

How does the K & N filter compare to the Amsoil filter, you know that was coming? I seen the article in American Iron a few years back & if I recall the old article said @ that time the K & N filter had a better bypass spring & good for 10 microns. I know everything inproves over time & just would like an opinion. I run the K & N filter just because of that article, chrome because I like the bling.  :teeth:

AP, yeah....that's what I thought

Topend95, I know nothing about the K&N filter except that I have used them 2 times, and never had motor failure as a result.
I try to post what I know, not what I don't
