Has anyone uploaded the new MS Internet Explorer 8 yet? Is it ok?

truck

I tried it and I kept getting the message 'Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down' or something to that affect.

I suggest that if you try it, first download an IE7 installer to your desk top so you have it if needed.

I get the same message. So far I don't like Explorer 8, but thats most likley because I don't understand the dam thing yet! :emsad:

FSG

I've tried it and while it's OK I'll stick with FF.

Big Dan

I have it and like it thus far. A lot of the bugs I had with IE7 are now gone.

I have been trying out the new Safari from Mac for the PC. It seems very quick and clean with out the MS and Nutscrape bloatware. Only down side is to do high encryption stuff like banking I still need to use MS Explorer... and I can not seem to upload images to HTT or Kajiji??? I think the uploading thing is a preference detail that I just haven't tracked down yet.But for daily surfing is great. A lot of the spam and such is bypassed dew to the fact that no one is coding for this app.

Been on it since last fall, just loaded release version this week.  Solid, but some older web pages get garbled at times, and some crap java code will not look right as well.  I have Compatibility Mode turned on full time to try to curb most, but not all, of it.  I recommend the release version.  FF and Chrome are also good, just depends on what like.

Don't know if this tells ya anything, but this is the opening banner that comes up when you open Yahoo Games!

Please be aware that some of our online games are not currently optimized for use with Internet Explorer 8. For the best experience playing our parlor games, we suggest not upgrading to the latest version of Internet Explorer for the time being.

My take on IE8(taken from a well respected tech site): If you must use Internet Explorer, I suggest you wait at least a month â€" two months would be better â€" before upgrading to IE 8. (If you're still using IE 6, however, install version 7 right away, for the sake of your security as well as for the added performance.)

Why do I think you should wait? At present, only a fraction of Windows users worldwide participated in the IE 8 beta. Now that the browser has been released to the public, it will be put through the wringer even more strenuously. When that happens, problems are bound to surface. For example, we've already received a few reports of odd page-load behavior in IE 8 on Vista systems. And, bizarrely, some IE 8 installations revert to IE 7 after loading Windows hotfixes.

Furthermore, the bad guys are bound to start banging on the new browser even harder to unleash new exploits. Let some of that play out before you jump into IE 8 with both feet. Unless you have a compelling reason to upgrade to IE 8, just relax, wait, and watch what unfolds.

I went from 6 to 8 and it seem like it really slowed down the machine but its not crashing
as often , and this is the Yahoo version and it has changed the home page to one that has all this crap on it so that has to be a big part of the slow problem

Words of wisdom Ed!!!
I'm still clinging to XP Pro and IE7 and hope to continue to do so for quite some time.

(I use FF for HTT and various blogs)

Let the 'cutting edgers' take the heat and THEN use it after many if not most of the bugs have been handled............
