So I let my pads get down to nothing on my back axle and now my rotor is kinda grooved up. I've put some new pads on there and have ridden a couple thousand miles and they still look new but the stopping power doesn't seem right. I use the fronts for 90% anyways but the rear just doesn't seem to do much. Don't think I contaminated the pads with anything and they're Lyndal Gold + pads.
Is it in my head or is it the rotor not doing its job? The pedal doesn't feel soft just doesn't get the grab like I think it should.

Possibility of a Couple of things happening. First, The Grooves, are they Deep or Just Barely There, and IF that's the Case, until the Pads Seat in to the "Grooves" It Won't feel the same as it Was.
Second, IF the Rotor got Glazed over for Whatever reason, the Pads Won't Really "Seat"
IF the Grooves are Not that Bad, You can possibly get away with Trying to Seat them.
If the Rotor got Glazed over, Well, You pretty much have to remove the Glaze.......
IF you happened to get a Bit of Grease off Your Hands on the Pads, You can TRY Cleaning them up with Brake Kleen, and if they got Glazed over from the Grease, You can Try Cleaning With Brake Kleen AND a Light Sand or File to Remove the Glaze.
a LOT Depends on How Bad the Glaze, How Long the Grease has Soaked in etc.
Did You Try to "Burnish" the New Pads, and SOME Pad Manu. want you to Clean the pads Before you put them in Service, Others say NO.
K, Good Luck.

p.s. Be Prepared for the Worst though. IF None of the Above Work for You, New Rotor, AND Likely New Pads......  :nix:
