My brother just bought another bike, 05 Big Dog chopper with a 117 S&S ? And a Baker 6spd,250 rear tire.
Anything he should be looking out for? Guess it has 8400mi on it. Thanks       Coff 06

The EHC wiring sys is troublesome.  I convert them to wire plus.
They are good bikes.  Some of the Big Dog proprietary parts are big $ if you can find then.   An example is foot pegs for $250

I second Calif Phil...

I have seen MULITPLE Big Dogs with wiring issues. I know of the 5 I have played with EVERY one had a wiring issue.

Mechanically they were sound except for S&S known issues and they all had fork seal problems...

A friend of mine used to have one.   He had back problems and sold it.  It was a good bike.     :chop:

I only know one person who had one & he had multiple electrical problems.

One time, he pulled of the side of the road with smoke coming off a burned up electrical harness.

At that point, he fixed it & listed it for sale.  It took FOREVER to sell & he lost 10k on the deal.

Do the Wires plus retrofit kit first then he will love the bike because he did not have all the problems. We work on a bunch of big dogs and that is by far the biggest problem with them. On some models the used a weird stator that you can not get any more but you can replace it with a cycle electric and a special S&S rotor once it needs it
I'm never wrong , once I thought I was wrong , but I was wrong

Thanks for the quick info guys,he had already done his homework,so he was aware of the issues with the stock wiring and electrical problems. He said he was VERY aware of the over the top prices for parts.Priced a new sissy bar, already has the struts.Over $500 just for the bar it self.
Said the bike is immaculate, not a scratch, ding,or chip anywhere on the bike, the foot pegs don't even show any signs of wear.Getting it for $10k
