For my baby harbor freight one I just use distilled water and the powder that harbor freight sells.

That's the brand Joe I'm using.
Well watched some videos & guys recommend simple green or equivalent. Well now it looks like the finish is ruined. Has a real chalky look to it,thinking may have ruined the body. Oh well il find another & practice again.
All the brass & steel parts are diffinitly clean. Did the wife's ring while the carb was cooking & wow it shines.
That helped make up for forgetting our anniversary 2 weeks ago.

How long did you leave it in for. The one that I use you can only leave it in for about 10 min. I use omega cleaner with water plus its heated.

Always use a dab of Simple Green & water. Mine is heated also & left in for an hour or so, never had any problems.

MMO works great for carbs and it isn't corrosive.  Also works great on BCGs, bolts, firing pins, pistol barrels........

Go to the Branson ultrasonic cleaner website & do some reading. These cleaners work by cavitation... imploding air bubbles to power stuff off. It's not the sound waves themselves as most people think. Lots of stuff you think will help actually hinder the process.

Alconox makes a variety of good additives for ultrasonics.

Think I cooked it too long! 1 hour, then another 20min

I use dawn.

Me too.  Dawn is cheap, cuts grease, easy to find and it has other uses.  Just resist the temptation to clean brass carb floats in an ultrasonic cleaner...  It looks and sounds cool, that thin metal vibrates and makes a mist but it makes hairline cracks in the float so they will sink - at least it did on 40 year old floats :(

Sometimes it looks like mineral deposits inside the carb and I have not had much luck getting rid of those with an ultrasonic cleaner.

Simple Green, depending on which variety of simple Green, is not recommended for raw aluminum, at least is was not a few years ago. Read the label, it should say if it is aluminum safe or not.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

The stuff I used is fursol,a commercial degreaser & household cleaner. Say's nothing about aluminum.

This might work for you if you like Simple Green.
Listen to the jingle the rumble and the roar.

I have the bransonic 225, I fill the tub with water, then built an aluminum plate that I cut a hole in it that fits a cottage cheese container nicely, using a double boiler type setup, I use heat and ultrasonic.  I have used the berrymans chem dip, lacquer thinner, and mineral spirits in there,  as it heats up some mist comes out the top and it really agitates the cleaner solvent, but it cleans up nicely anything I stick in there.

Yeah, I know, not supposed to use solvents in a heated tub like that, but so far hasn't burned down the garage... and it works so much better than simple green.

if you use a degreaser that is not recommended for aluminum the degreaser can etch the aluminum and leave you with a white film all over your aluminum.  I found this out the first time I degreased the motor on my brand new Dodge Dakota pickup...   did I mention brand new?  now the manifold was white, no way to clean it off out of all the crevices either.  solution, just keep the hood closed....

dont make that mistake with your carb..

I cleaned rings and jewelry in it too using a liquid jewelry cleaner (not a harsh solvent), didnt do near as good a job as a steam cleaner like the steam dragon, or a cheaper steam type jewelry cleaner.  The steam cleans anything!

Well chit, after all this work I realized the spare carb I have doesn't have the cruise cable knob on the shaft.
So now I need to find another body.
Thanks gents.
