Well my brother has a 96 roadking with mm system. It messed up now he's looking to go carb. I have a manifold  and i dug out some carbs. The one I'm  considering is a vm38. Is this going to be big enough for his stock engine ?

Nope.....
Nothing smaller than an HR 42 will do..

Not around here they can't, Cheapest one I found so far is $200 and the condition is unknown. Granted $200 is cheap compared to a new carb, but I remember just a couple of years ago, people were lucky to get $50 for the CV. I guess times do change.

There's a 42 in the Twin cam swap meet for 225

38 is too small. A stock cv is a 40.

Whatever happened to the PSI carb.
That thing looked like the perfect design for HD carb applications.
I new it was pricey and that probably killed it.
Still, I have not see a single one for sale used.

I saw one for sale on craigslist, supposedly bought for a project and never installed. IRC he was asking $800.
A work of art.

Might be a work of art, but they had tuning issues.
Also a friend got one to test vs. S&S and the S&S made more power and was easier to dial in.
Took off the PSI and ran the S&S-do a search and you will find out some issues. They came out with 2-3 generations of the carb to try and improve the problems.
When you don't see them being run on a lot of bikes, wonder why...

That is true PW unfortunately.
Still, the concept made sense and it looked to be infinitely adjustable quickly.
I'd like to read up on the issues involved.
Maybe someone here knows of someone who actually lived with the thing.
My gut tells me that it would of been accepted more readily if the price was more realistic.
At least more of us might have played with it to work things out.
Look at all the "Potty mouth" that's been done to S&Ss to get them where they need to be.

Yeah, I should have added that I didn't know anyone with any FHE.
Form over function, I guess.
