A friend bought a used 2004 Dyna Lowrider. His first Harley.
The seat that came with it was very small. He wants more comfort for him and his wife.
I went to my archives and came up with seat 53042-04. It's a big touring seat with a built in riders backrest.
Absolutely nobody has one, but we have found a 53042-01.
Can anybody tell me what's different about them, and if it would work?
I know 85 guys will want to stray from the topic at hand and recommend 12 other seats just as good or better, but I'd rather we stick to the 53042-04.

  THANKS.

Can you please go into detail on why it won't fit?  Shape of seat, fastening points, or whatever.

the front mounting TAB is different.

I wonder if the tab on the junk paper thin seat could be robbed and adapted to the 53042-01 seat.
Maybe not. Hate to ruin the older style seat finding out it won't work..

I want to say there was a frame change or major redesign somewhere around that time. I know the forks became larger diameter but not sure what happened to rest of the frame. Harley is pretty good with part numbers and if that -01 changed to an -04 there is a reason and the seats are not interchangeable.

One option may be to look for a salvage parts site. If you can find an undamaged pan, you can get a seat rebuilder to build up a seat for you.
