My bike is a 1997 FLH Classic with 100000 Kms (60000 Miles) on it.  Has high flow air cleaner and Sreaming Eagle mufflers and a EV27 Cam. Engine has been very reliable with only the Starter having had to be repaired so far.   About 10000Kms (6000 miles) ago I but in new HD "B" lifters.  I think that was a waste of cash as there was nothing wrong with the old ones.
What could I do to increase performance a bit without sacrificing the reliability I've come to expect form this bike.  I'm going to keep this bike for a few more years,.
Thanks a lot for your input everyone.

Did you change the cam bearing?

How much $$$ do you want to spend?

If it has tits or gears it will give you problems at some point!!

Yes I've changed the cam bearing.  The cam modification done at a HD dealership before I acquired the bike.  I got the bike used with only 10000 miles on it.  I don't want to spend more than about 1000.00 on it.  My main concern is not to compromise reliability.  I know that if i raise the compression I'll have to use Premium gas.  i don't like to spoil my bike.  I only use regular gas but compression is low (8.5 to 1 I think).
I have an 05 1200 Sportster that need Premium gas.  It doesn't get as good millage as my old FLH on regular.
Again thanks for the replies.

I have a 1000,000 miler '94 Flhtc that I rebuilt a couple of winters ago. I also changed the drive belt and pulleys. When I did, I replaced the front pulley (about $45.00) on it with one that had one (I think it was one...) less tooth on it. What a difference that made! And no reliability concerns. That will lower your low end torque but the difference in top speed is good. Now the old bike regularly passes fancy new twin cammers on the highway with little effort. Something to consider. FWIW.

single fire ignition or a  SE sportster module

Yup, those two mods, ignition and pulley, are about the cheapest and safest.
If you want more horsepower, but don't want to run premium fuel, you really don't want more horsepower.

Bumping up the compression won't do much good if the heads and cam aren't matched to optimize your performance.

For a $1000 you could get the heads done (nice valve job and cleaned up) that will give you some HP.

Best thing I ever did to my '92 FXRS was to get an Andrews EV 13 cam.  It made much more power, but did not hurt the fuel economy one bit.  No compression bump needed.  I also have a Screamin' Eagle air cleaner and mufflers with steel baffles.  The INA cam bearing was replaced with the Torrington full complement and the H-D lifters were tossed for Crane.
