Just gonna put this out here and see what comes back....

CV carb. Everything appears to be assembled correctly. F/A screw is turned out 1 1/2 turns. 45 pilot jet. Thunderslide.

Low speed circuit won't idle, stumbles and runs rich. Main runs fine. Have the correct choke plunger and spring. Diaphragm is seated properly on top.

What am I missing???

Thanks.

Need more info, What's it on, where is the needle set at, if you screw the idle air mixture screw in does it still run rich?

pull off the vacuum line from the petcock to the carb and see if there is any signs of gas.

Did you ever pull the mixture screw all the way out ?
There is an oring up in there that is easy to lose.

It's on a stock twin cam with V&H Longshots and K&N air. Vacuum from petcock is clean. Mixture screw doesn't seem to have any effect. What DID have an effect was pulling the choke in and out. Nothing definite but it seemed to smooth out when I pulled out the choke even though it was warmed up. ???

It runs better with the choke out?

Someone else asked about the needle setting?  Where is the clip set at??

Did you replace the emulsion tube yourself?? If so, are you sure the needle jet (which sits below the emulsion tube and protrudes into the throat of the carb) is positioned correctly??

Gonein7seconds

Okay. No, I did not disassemble this carburetor. I bought it as is with the Thunderslide already installed and the 45/185 jets in it. The guy I bought it from tested it on his own bike after it was re-assembled and said it ran fine. He offered to take it back and re test it and check it out but I figure if it was okay when I bought it, then I must have done something to cause the problem I'm having. I did not look to see where the clip was set. However, I did replace the idle mixture screw with one with a knurled thumbscrew at the end. I'll have to go back and check for that o-ring.

I gotta tell ya, I can't imagine anything going wrong with a bike that can't be figured out on this site. You guys are amazing!

Thanks

Check for an intake leak to eliminate that problem if you haven't done so yet. Yep, I carefully read all your words and about the running rich stumbling idle, but.....
why would it run better if you pulled the choke and richened it even more?
Just a thought.

This really sounds like the choke/enrichener plunger is not seated in its bore in the carb.
If it is not right, pulling the choke will have little effect because it is already "on".
Hope this helps,
Bob
