Having real hard time finding dyno tuner for my tts closer to me

There are tons of tuners near me. Most all prefer dynojets ( power commander or power vision) tuners. All I keep hearing is how tts is so much harder. So either people are getting poor tunes or something left on the bone, or what I don't know. The last tuner that did my bike was 2 hrs away and I believe he left. Most others it makes me feel like I will be a ginuea pig for them to figure it out. With a fresh motor build being done and having to drive 6 hrs round trip for a tune. Is it getting that hard to find good tuners now then or has TTS lost some ground for operators to have a easier tune. I am in east central Iowa. Faribault is the one who is a 6  your round trip.  Any help appreciated. Faribault will do an awesome job but would love to have a shorter distance to travel.

Your instincts are good on this one, if TTS is harder for them you do not want them tuning for you. TTS is still as good as it gets and you are luck if you only drive 3 hrs to get to a good tuner.

Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Haul it to Joe Lyons in Olathe, it is worth the trip.
What us the shop name. It's about an extra hour and a half to hit kc from my area. I have always heard well of Faribault having a very good tuner named Jason. I seen Joe chime in earlier here. If he feels he would do better than Jason I am open. Just rather keep the distance to a minimum. Thanks

Try contacting TTS and asking them for tuners in your area

I have not used Joe personally but I do know people that have and he is a top notch tuner and definitely worth the trip you would make. I know of people that have driven farther to use him and said they would do it it again on their next build.

It's is quite a drive and I understand the issues with driving that far.  Dragos performance is close,  and C&S speed shop is about as far away as fairbault from you, as is Jim Kennedy/strokerjk.
Non of which will blow the smoke that fairbault will. ;)

I don't mind too much of a drive but know some places to hang out there near Faribault. Dragos is the closest according to google maps from my house. I am a tad west of Iowa City. Is Jason at Faribault not as good as I have been told? Id love to have someone who can do it right the first time. MY only concern going to far is if any mechanical issue happened such as clutch couldn't hold the power. I am running the heavier SE diaphragm spring so it should be good but never know.

I have my opinions but you know what they say about those.  You can get a great tune out of TTS or Power Vision.  Some people are just more comfortable with one or the other.  All three of those guys in Illinois should be able to get the job done

Why not just pick a map with close cam specs, etc. and Vtune yourself? I did my own with a stage II 103 motor with fantastic results. Later when I took it to a tuner to get different cams, he did a run on the tune I had done to get a baseline before swapping cams. He remarked that the TQ was as high as he had seen on that cam and said I had done a great job tuning it. I just followed directions and asked questions on here to get a good tune myself.

I have V tuned  for hours on different bikes. There are 2 big factors I don't have. Time. Patience. I also feel on a fresh build running lean for long periods to get all my cells hit, ve dialed in ,etc leaves a potential to do more damage than good on a fresh build. I also like fright recorder better than riding with laptop but you can't see what you have hit until you view the recording. Just found it easier and better to just get the professional tune done. There is also limited base maps for newer dyna models. Only one that had a cam choice and won't match the 777. Cam analyzer can be ran for my intake open but intake close has to be set on dyno as well.

I have spoken with Frank on the phone. He is the closest to me and I plan on just buying his package and letting him tune it when done. Personable guy with a lot of knowledge.

Frank is a straight up guy and great builder/tuner so are all the other guys mentioned in this thread including Joe Lyons. I feel bad I did not stop and visit Joe I just hauled ass from Austin to Richmond Mo and back on Sunday and seem Raw hide was open when I drove past but I was in a hurry to get back home. Sorry Joe it was a nice drive in the truck next time I will do it on the bike and stop in to buy you lunch.

If you pick up a Mimo monitor and get a Ram mount, clamp the monitor to the handle bars, toss the laptop in a saddle bag or trunk, run a USB cable from laptop to monitor, then you can watch the cells fill in as you ride, plus ride in the cells that need to be filled. IMO, having a remote monitor so you can watch the cells fill in is a incredible time saver. Until you have a remote monitor you are just wasting time.

Find a Cal that is close, set your AFR a bit rich and ride. A short 5 minute ride and you can get much of the normal running range pretty close, then take longer rides to fill in the rest. I can take a twenty minute ride and hit pretty much all the cells that you need to.  Ride, stop and reflash, and ride some more. One afternoon and you will be pretty much done unless you want to putz around and really fine tune some areas.

I would encourage you to try it out even if you have someone tune it for you. You can save the pro's tune and drop it back in if you want to. The knowledge of being able to tune yourself is worth every minute, IMO.

I see how it is. Lol. Well next time you won't have to stop by Rawhide. I need to take a vacation down to Texas also.  Surprised you didn't come up I49.

What are the specs on your combination right now?
Cam?
intake?
exhaust?
engine mods?

Never mind, found your other thread.

Good luck

Have to pull cam plate and check runout before I do anything anyway. Better to be sure crank is decent before putting anymore power to it.
