A friend wants me to buy a set of pipes for him, and the duals from these manufacturers all look the same to me. Is there a difference? I think the S&S is the most expensive. The bike is a 06 touring.

That is a great pipe on an 06 touring. I know the S&S and KW are the same pipe, not sure on the Cycle shack

I put Powertune duals on my '08. Excellent fit and gets the heat out from under your leg. Kw makes them, and they and S&S sell them. I used approx. '09 CVO dresser mufflers with full length heat shields and end caps along with Fullsac 1 3/4 baffles for I think a great system and good looks.

The CS pipe is different  but the KW and SnS pipe are the same.. I like this pipe.. Probably won't give the peak tq  and HP numbers of the CS or Power dual but the power band will be nice and flat, you can run a little longer cam without loosing low end torque.. I'm current have one on a 95 ci RKC with small port heads, crane H290. It's there to stay..

Thanks, now that I look a little closer the Cycle Shack can only use only their Mufflers. The Chrome Werks is a little cheaper than the S&S, I guess the S&S people can charge a little more for their name.

On the S&S pipe, there is a plate that bolts to the back of the transmission for the cross under support. The KW uses a bracket that uses long bolts to attach a rectangular bracket to the perimeter of the  oil pan under the transmission. These bolts replace the original oil pan bolts. A few of my customers reported those bolts breaking off or falling out. These reports came from DIY'ers, I don't know if they used a torque wrench or locktite when they installed their brackets. I have not had any negative reports from the KW pipes that were installed here in my shop, and I haven't had any bad reports from the customers who bought similar S&S pipes.

The main thing to take from this is when installing either pipe, pay attention to the little details.

I think both pipes are still Kromewerks.. You just described the difference between the 09-up and 08-down.

You're probably right, I did not think of that.

Happened to me too. The bracket broke and one of the bolts went straight thru my rear tire. Installation by the book, blue locktite and torqued as specified. Real problem was that the fit of the bracket was bad. holes for the bolts were not aligned and the bracket was slightly tilted.
Just make sure the fit is 100% to the oil pan with mufflers torqued. I do like the headers (and KW mufflers) though.

They have revised the rear mounts on the KW & S&S pipes, they had some people that had problems with them, if you have those head pipes contact their customer service & they will send out the update kit if you want it.

KW released a new set of these 2-2 bagger pipes , with a bigger 2 step head pipe .
They have a nice looking new  2-1 for touring also .

I ran the CS head pipe on my 2014 wet head. I run the SS on my 2015 airhead. FWIW the CS header felt much warmer on the right leg. Different bike, tune, cam, everything...no idea if the pipe was part of the problem. But one would think the wet head would have slightly lower exhaust temps.

Per S&S that head pipe is now there own .. In the past they where made by KW but being that there where some issues with the design S&S has made changes to the pipe made in house now was how I gathered
