Hello folks
1989 4 speed evo sportster
Stock clutch, tried extra plate clutches, SE and Barnett spring, and replaced hub and pressure plates over last 20 years more than once, but the clutch still isn't really all that great. 1200cc conversion with worked heads cams and ign and breathing mods. Sometimes I get it great and it won't slip, then it lets go when you wind it on in 4th at other times. It seems to only just have enough grip for the engine. Only just... Or just not enough.
Thinking of going a scorpion clutch to put paid to my decades old problem for good. Will that fix it?
Anywhere I can get one at a decent price? Would be happy with used... Especially as the Australian dollar is now not worth anything!

If you can't fix it with a hammer and a roll of Duck tape then you're in trouble

Just take a sharp intake of breath and buy the right parts. In 10 years time you will have forgotten the cost...

Meanwhile, what about one of those VPC clutches?
The higher you rev the harder it grips.
Changing gear at the red-line will be a bit of a pull but pootling around should be fine.

Who makes Vpc clutches?
I do tend to wind it out a fair bit, usually to annoy my mates who have sunk a fortune into a new big twin... And still have the original gear set with new bearings.
You're right though, I'll just try to source one at the best price
