Thank you gentlemen .  I don't suppose similar charting is available for the Monotubes......apples 'n oranges?
Progressive will tell you the spring rate on specific monotubes.

"Stay away from progressive spring designs and go with a straight weight spring."

Really? I ran progressive springs with Bel Ray 20W until I went to Monotubes.

Can you explain that for me Nowhereman? Learning something here.

Progressive has spring rates for different applications in regular or HD.  Putting a firmer spring and 20w with a fixed orifice damper rod is most likely going to be varying degrees of harsh depending on travel speed.  Speed sensitive valves are much less of a compromise.

As far as progressive rate fork springs, it really depends on the rates being right for your application in the most used part of travel.
Forks are inherently progressive as to spring rate due to the air chamber/spring which is tunable with oil level, many people overlook/ignore this tuning aspect.  If you have the correct straight rate spring and tune the oil level you really shouldn't need or possibly even want progressive springs.  Trying to have a softer rate at ride height will allow the fork to use more travel initially which really can't be made up for at the bottom of the stroke on these heavy, limited travel bikes that are sprung on the soft side.  -Rick

Max, thanks for the video on the magneto shocks.  Great potential with this type of system.
