To shred the drive lugs off of a belt like that I wonder if it was tight enough. Run the belt a tad lose, run a bunch of HP through it and it will climb up the pulley teeth and tear up the belt. Better to be a tad tight than a tad loose.

That's 100% correct!  I run mine tight and dead strait on my 124" that pushes the HP.  It has 65K miles on the same belt and sprockets.  All are in nice condition.  Gotta keep it on the tight side!
If you have to stop and think about if it is right or wrong, Assume it is wrong.

Sorry, I messed up the link but it *starts* there. Several more posts in the same thread.
On my phone right now. Will see if I can get the link to the thread fixed in a bit.
Here's the whole thread, you'll have to skip to the second page or so

Where would be a good place to get a laser like the one you used on the rotors?

TIA.

Y'all made me look!
I have the bike on the lift, untouched since riding it in with the stripped belt. It's amazing, actually, how well it still pulls even stripped. It doesn't even indicate there's a problem unless you really get on it hard.
Anyway, up on the lift using the genuine HD ten pound tension gauge, I can get almost 5/8". Now, that's not even out of spec and that's *while stripped*.
I raised it up and rolled it round to make sure there's not debris in the sprocket adding tension.
The last time I gauged it a week ago it was at 3/8. Given its current condition I don't believe it was loose.

That laser, I have no clue other than likely HF or HD or Lowes. There are similar lasers available now that are dirt cheap. I took a pic of it. A magnet on it is a must.
I really need to make a video of the procedure. My explanation is confusing, a video would help, I think.

Rhetorical questions, who still does those?
