Ok, so I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question, but I've spent a few hours searching around looking for some diagram or video to describe the proper routing of the oil lines on my 84 Wide glide.

I do have the factory service manual but that did not explain enough for me to feel comfortable yet.

Basically a stock (late 84) wide glide, that I am putting back together after a trans rebuild.

The stock oil tank is in place and has two connections for oil lines on the top and one on the bottom.  The two on top are the ones I am wondering about. The oil lines are installed on the engine and pump as they were prior to me taking this apart, but I totally forgot to take a picture or mark them in any way when I disassembled it.

Anyone know off the top of thier heads if it makes a difference which line goes to which?

Yes it does if I remember one is taller inside the tank and won't feed oil into your system.

I'll double check again when I get home if there was a height difference on the two on top.

Honestly I thought the line on the bottom was the one feeding the pump to the engine, and the two on top were return and vent but I took this thing apart last fall for the trans rebuild and I could be totally wrong.  I know I have the one on the bottom connected properly because there was only one short line to hook up :)   The two on top could be switched. Just don't want to grenede anything if I can avoid it :)

Oo I'm going off memory so I apologize. I think if you look inside the tank it will be more obvious with a flashlight.

Thanks for the replies guys!   I did try lookign in the tank with a flashlight, and my old ass eyes couldn't focus well enough to see if one had a tube going down any further or not. Best I could tell is both just were almost flush with the top of the tank.

Thanks for checking your bike David, I will double check mine again tonight and see if mine are routed the same way.
