I'm considering replacing my 2015 RK stock seat with a HD Sundowner. Can anyone give me a comparison of the two? I'd like to sit a bit lower. The Sundowner looks like it is well 'dished' and would give the rider a little more knee bend.

I have one on my 12 street glide and it seems to be ok. I would suggest to go to the Harley shop and they will let you test out a loaner . I did that with the seat and windshield . I bought the windshield there and the seat off a member here .

My bike came with the sundowner on it. I love it. It is soooo comfortable. Now I don't have much experience with a stock seat at all, rode my buddies RGC some with his stock seat and it was no wear near as comfortable. Don't remember how it stuck me in comparison to the controls though. Getting a loaner and going for a spin is the best try it before you buy it plan.

I ride a Wide Glide, not a Road Thing, but I do have a Sundowner, and if you like to rack up the miles, you'll love the comfort.

Got one on my 99 FLHT because the stock pillow seats kept coming apart at the seams (literally).  At first I hated it.  The sundowner for me lacked adequate back support and even a short ride would have me in pain.  I ended up getting a backrest which helped some.  I have either adopted to the seat or it broke in and adopted to me.  Did 435 miles in one day this spring which is my record on a motorcycle.  Still I was more than ready to get off the bike.  The seat has held up well and looks good, I'll give it that, but I don't think it is as comfortable as other folks say.  My lack of ass might have something to do with that too.

I've been using the sundowner for years, and I love it!!

Thanks all. Seats are always subjective. I don't think my dealer has seats to borrow, so I would be stuck to buy. That's why I'm soliciting opinions here. It seems that I read on another forum long ago that most riders liked them. At least there should be a good secondary market. Maybe I'll check out ebay.

I had tried a sundowner on my 09 Ultra and although it was very comfortable for the rider my SO complained that it made her slide forward constantly. Test one out before buying, particularly if you carry a pillion.

See if the dealer might be willing to pull one off a trade-in bike...just a thought.

Good idea. I'll ask them to keep an eye out for one.

put a sundowner on my 99 roadking years ago.it was the best thing ive ever done to it. I have a rider backrest and it feels more like im sitting in it than on it I can do 700 miles a day easily I also put heritage bars on it that completed the comfort for me

Mustang Lowdown, better position and moves you forward/down with the thinner nose on seat for inseam challenged, also comes in a solo version for your bike, that way you can pick a pillon if needed, also available with adjustable driver backrest

I'm 6 foot tall. The stock seat is very uncomfortable for me. It seems to push me up too far and it slants forward, which makes me feel like I'm sliding and have to push back all the time. I bought a Sundowner for my 2005 Road King and it was perfect. Wife likes the wider pillion, too. I just bought a 2016 Road King and the first thing I'm planning to do it put a Sundowner on it.
