Just curious...is the front brake switch still available for the pre-1996 controls? The reason I ask is...I was out on the bike the other night and noticed that my front brake lever is not triggering the brake lights. The last thing I did was re-grip the bars about a month and a half ago. The front brake lights were coming on after the job, as I tested all the controls. So, somewhere along the line, it's stopped working. I am about to pull it apart and start testing (rear pedal illuminates the lights, for what that's worth).
Don't know yet whether the switch is serviceable.

Check to see if the light is not coming on or is actually on steady. If so, loosen up the front brake and reservoir mounts and reassemble but make sure it's all together tightly. There's a button in between that has to be depressed when assembled.

Yes, the lights don't come on. Just started recently, but the switch is the first place I'm heading, as that's the last place I touched. I'm just hoping I didn't crack it or something when I re-installed it.

Loosen the 2 screws on the switch housing and slide the switch housings all the way against the master cylinder.

I will check that for sure...I think it's flush now though, but it may have moved.

If the rear pedal works the light as you say, the front controls are not separated. Front switch is bad  or its "maker lever" is out of place. Aftermarket still has them for sure....

Well just a quick update...pulled the right hand control and shorted a screw driver across the bike light switch terminals. The brake lights came on...so that problem is solved.
As a plus, the local dealer had a switch for the pre-1996 controls. Gotta like that.
