I was out for a cruise today about 140 miles, Two different times my battery light came on and I noticed the Voltmeter had dropped to just under 12 volts, this only lasted a matter of a few miles each time before going back to normal, Any Ideas as to what might be causing this ?
I installed LED headlight bulbs yesterday, they work well, just plugged in , no issues , Coincidence ?
2012 RoadGlide ?

Check your battery connections.

After that voltage regulator

Check your stator and if it is good check your voltage back into battery it sounds like a charging issue just begun either stator or regulator the 2011-12 touring had regulator issues with heat from the factory oil cooler that's why cycle electric has a regulator that mounts higher if you have a stock oil cooler
I'm never wrong , once I thought I was wrong , but I was wrong

My 2011 roady went thru 3 regulators under factory warranty before I put the cycle electric on it and its been fine ever since

My Bud's '12 SG is on its 4th regulator, 1 under warranty, 2 out of pocket, it's ironic that he's an electrician by trade.

If it's been less than a year on the part HD will replace.

Look up the P&A warranty on their website.

I had a replacement fail 1 week short of a year and returned it for store credit and installed a CE unit.

Glen, You didn't say if you were were still under warranty but I'll assume you're not.  My Triglide did this exact same thing and it turned out to be the voltage regulator.  These things, along with the stator, have a tendency to go out from time to time if you replace them with stock parts.  But if you replace them with Cycle Electric parts as suggested above it will be the last time you'll have to replace them.  And the installation is a breeze if you can do the slightest maintenance.  And even if you can't ask a buddy to show you how cause the next time a friend's regulator goes out you can help him change his, it's that easy.

Too much horsepower is almost enough.

I just replaced the stator for the first time on my 07 road glide at 121,000 kilometers,it would charge fine  at highway speed but would drop down to 12 volts or less at idle so my battery would never be fully charged,so it was dying a slow death, with the new stator it charges at 14.1 volts at all rpms and the battery stays fully charged.
