I need to replace a damaged shift shaft bushing in the inner primary of an FXR.
The pt# 60629-82  . The catalouge I found them in doesn't make them any more , I just found out today.
Are there any suggestions or interchanges that anyone knows about.

This is the new one but you have to trim it by about 1/4" or so. 34979-00

yeah,  you must be using an old catalouge like I am.
But when you  go to get some, you find out it is discontinued.  :(

I will pick up that new part #.  A little trim would be no problem.
Thnx for the suggestion.

That dealer  for that link charges $8.00 to ship
Its up to them if thats the way they do it.

Pt# 34979-00 is a sleeve as used on the later models  it is for "international models"
are you suggesting trim this sleeve to use in place of the bushings.

what  about the sleeve locater plate.  Just do without that?

I think I owe you an apology. I have always referred to the tube which is pressed into the tranny case that the shifter shaft rides in as the "shift shaft bushing". I guess my terminology is wrong and that has caused some confusion. Again, sorry for what apparently was bad information.

Burnout

Different year, early had bushings, late switched to the tube.
They don't call me Ironhead Rick just because I'm "hard headed"

cohise84,   It would help to know what year you are working on.

If you are sure of the part number you provided, Ronnie's H-D's parts finder shows it as a bushing that presses into the inspection cover. As there is a requirement of 2, probably the same at the inner primary housing.

Thanks I will check Ronnie's ,  good idea.

The shift tube was intro with the new clutch on the Late 84 model.
I am working on  an Early 84,  old style Shovel clutch.

FSG,   I probably call those people an see if they have any
of these bushings,  they got them listed.  Maybe they have them on the shelf.
